Curio.House
Sustainable, affordable, and adaptable.
Our team has focused on these concepts throughout our project in our pursuit to design a positive energy residence that we call the 'Curio House'.
Emerging from a year long collaborative design process that has included over 100 students, educators, and professionals, we have developed what we believe is a home that not only meets the needs of the Solar Decathlon competition, but also achieves our broader goals of social and economic sustainability.
Curio.House is a concrete representation of our project goals that addresses both environmental and social concerns equally. Rather than serving as a 'final' solution, it is meant to inspire and empower the end user to question not only how the home is built, but also the impact of the daily activities that occur in and around that home.
We hope learning about our house inspires you to continue learning about the larger goals of sustainability, how you live, and how you can lead others toward a more sustainable lifestyle.
CURIO.CITY
Curio is for anyone who wants to take a big step toward living sustainably. Curio.city will show you how you too can live curious. The Solar Decathlon provides an opportunity to address the issues of today in a single prototypical house displayed in a suburban-like setting. Curio.city will show the ways in which this house, and the principals behind it, can be applied to various contexts. This will be demonstrated via 12 design scenarios spanning a wide demographic. Some scenarios will show the application of a singular curio house, and others will show the curio ideals used in a larger application. Each scenario will feature a specific site, and a client with a distinct set of priorities in order to help you envision your own curio lifestyle.
